Summer Reading Starts June 17!
“Dig Into Reading” is this year’s summer reading club theme for children. From June 17th to August 10th, all eleven branches of the St. Clair County Library System will be hosting events and programs centered on this theme to keep your children reading and learning all summer long. The library wants to help your children keep their minds active and ready to enter school in the fall. Your library provides the tools and resources to connect your children to a world of information this summer through a wide variety of books and programs.

Summer Art Fair for Children
Enter your art work created in 2013 to be displayed in your library! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners to be displayed at the Algonac Art Fair! Register June 1- July 27. Art work accepted July 29 - Aug. 3.People's Choice Aug. 12 - 17. One entry per child. All artwork must be picked up from the library Sep 3 - 7. Rules and display information available at the library.

Seeing Red:The Use of Color
Friends of Burtchville Twp. Library present speaker, Wendy Evans, from the Detroit Institute of Arts. Wendy will give a Power Point Presentation exploring DIA artwork. Learn about the various ways artists employ color: to grab attention and to evoke happiness, sadness, solemness and awe, among other emotional responses. Registration requested. Western Newfoundland Travelogue
Part II return to Canada's undiscovered province starting this time on the western coast. This presentation will include Gros Morne National Park and L'anse aux Meadows, the orginal Viking settlement dating back to 1,000 A.D. After traveling to the historic village of Red Bay, located in Labrador, the presentation will then take you to the charming villages of Twillingate and Trinity where you will see icebergs floating off the coast. This presentation will conclude with a musical presentation featuring the haunting music of a culture desperately trying to survive in a modern world.
